This weekend hundreds of graduates and former students and teachers will be in Moorefield to celebrate a building. Moorefield High School will be changed radically this year as the 1941 portion of the school is torn down and replaced with a modern state-of-the art facility. Graduates have been invited back to share memories, visit with old friends and classmates and just have fun before this happens.
We want to say thanks for the memories, some good, some not so good, but all of which helped form and shape the thousands of teenagers who attended Moorefield High School from 1941 until this spring.
During those 72 years there were outstanding scholars, wins and losses on the playing fields, speech and writing competitions, proms, state championships, science fairs, stage plays, beauty contests, concerts and more. All left memories of long practices, rehearsals and critiques.
There were wars, floods, fires, heating and cooling problems, smelly locker rooms, spitballs, food fights, half court basketball, best friends and worst enemies, and detention…
