Sometime within the next week Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has to decide what to do about House Bill 4283. He can sign the bill, do nothing and it will automatically become law, or veto the bill.
We hope he chooses the veto option.
HB 4283 will raise the minimum wage by $1.50 over the next two years. That isn’t the real problem. The bill also includes language which will affect overtime laws. The same overtime laws we have been living under for decades which are federal laws will be trumped by the proposed state laws.
