Judge Cookman Named State Senator for 15th District

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin appointed the Honorable Donald H. Cookman to represent the people of the 15th Senatorial District. The announcement was made Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The appointment comes as Walt Helmick, who held the senate seat

for 22 years, resigned to take the position of Commissioner of Agriculture. Cookman will fill Helmick’s unexpired term.

Cookman most recently served as Chief Judge of the 22nd Circuit. He has been a circuit court judge since 1993.
