Five-Year-Old Drowns in Wardensville Pond

Hardy County Sheriff’s Deputy David Warren, Wardensville Rescue Squad and Capon Springs Rescue Squad responded to a call Thursday morning, May 16, of a possible drowning in Wardensville.

Deputy Warren, first on the scene, found Caden Boyce, 5, of Wardensville unresponsive. He had been found face-down in a pond and removed by family members. CPR was initiated and continued until the rescue squad arrived.

Boyce was transported to Winchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The incident is still under investigation although the Sheriff’s Department does not suspect foul play.
