Circuit Court Judges Trade Responsibilities

Changes are coming to the 22nd Circuit Court in Hardy County and they will begin this month. Judge Donald H. Cookman will hear abuse and neglect cases, civil cases and will oversee the Drug Court. Judge Charles E Parsons will hear truancy cases, juvenile cases and criminal cases. Previously, Cookman presided over criminal cases and Parsons heard civil cases.

“I doubt it will have any effect on workload,” Parsons said. “The number of cases are about the same. Courts generally alternate every two years.
